Choose Your Operating Model
There is no 'one size fits all'. We recommend one of two proven models based on your event size and audience.
1. The Deposit Return Scheme (DRS)
Best for: Large Festivals, Music Events, Public Bars.
This is the classic 'festival cup' model. It incentivises return and keeps the site spotless.
- Step 1: Customer pays a deposit (e.g., £2) with their first drink.
- Step 2: When buying a fresh drink, they swap their dirty cup for a clean one (no extra charge).
- Step 3: At the end of the event, they return the cup for a full refund OR keep it as a souvenir.
- The Benefit: You profit from every unreturned cup, often covering the cost of the scheme entirely.
2. The Green Levy (Non-Refundable)
Best for: Stadiums, Arenas, Corporate Events.
A simpler model designed for high-speed service where refunds are logistically difficult.
- Step 1: A small 'Green Tax' (e.g., £1) is added to the first drink price.
- Step 2: Customers swap for fresh cups on every refill.
- Step 3: No refunds at the end. Customers are encouraged to take the cup home or drop it in a charity bin.
- The Benefit: Zero cash handling at the end of the night and faster egress for crowds.
